Project Description
The purpose of the project is to break down barriers between the local police force and the diaspora community living in the Carlisle area. By forming a rapport and trust between these groups, eradicating fear and encouraging them to communicate independently.
This is a 12 week project consisting of the following activities, specifically aimed at diaspora communities including People Seeking Asylum and Refugees in the Carlisle area: |
1 | Football matches with and food and refreshments for the participants |
2 | A carrom board competition |
3 | Sit down, freshly prepared, culturally diverse meals for all participants during the period of the project, giving an opportunity to “break bread” together |
4 | The use of community spaces suitable for cooking and eating such as the Fire Station East community rooms and kitchen |
