Culture Bazaar is an award winning event usually held annually which celebrates the diversity of people living in Cumbria.
Culture Bazaar takes people on a journey through music, dance, art, food and storytelling to raise awareness of the culture of different nations, states and regions across the world, through people who have origins there. We believe that understanding aids acceptance of people from different backgrounds and Culture Bazaar enables people to celebrate their culture their way.
A family friendly event, with something for everyone to enjoy.
This year Culture Bazaar will be on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th May 2025 at Richard Rose Central Academy in Carlisle. The event is free to attend and open to the public from 12pm to 5.30pm on both days.
To help this event run smoothly, we are looking for volunteers to assist us in the following roles:
- Stewards. To help visitors get the best experience, our stewards will be on hand to answer questions and direct people to the locations of the activities they are interested in. Stewards will be alert to any potential issues in the flow of people around the building, ensuring that everyone can move freely.
- Green Room support. Specific volunteers to assist with any requirements of our performers including ensuring that they know any changes to the programme and that they have adequate refreshments.
- Runners. Richard Rose is a large site and the event has many different activities. Volunteers to take messages and aid communications within the event team and with performers and the public are essential.
- Reception Team. Volunteers keep a tally of the numbers of visitors and assist them to complete evaluation and feedback data, as well as welcome people to the event and help with orientation.
- Snack Shack. To assist in the selling of hot and cold drinks and snacks
- Welfare volunteers. To assist with keeping the school clean and tidy and safe for visitors by ensuring rubbish is removed, tables wiped and any issues are notified to the events team.
- Activity support. Volunteers to provide support for workshops either to the workshop leader or to the participants to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience
All volunteers will be supported by named members of staff and a full induction will be given.
Volunteers will work in teams and there will be a rota so that volunteers can have a break from their role and enjoy the event too. Volunteers will be able to change roles as part of the rota if agreed in advance.
Volunteers will have an event T Shirt to identify them as part of the team and will be entitled to concessions on food and drinks.
