Iranian footballer welcomed into the city.
A member of our diaspora group, Yousef Yousefi has been welcomed by a local football team and is pleased to be able to continue with his passion. The former professional footballer from Iran and a member of the national youth squad now plays with Unisun Social FC. He said recently “Its very important for me to play football, and I wouldn’t have football without Unison Social FC”. He currently plays midfield for the Sunday league team, who had a comfortable victory for their first game of the season.
Jon Stewart, Head Coach said “we are an inclusive club and Yousef is one of the lads, he’s an integral part of the squad”. Unisun Athletic has supported many diaspora over recent years including players from Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Poland, Chad and the Soloman Islands, and Multicultural Cumbria is happy to continue to support and encourage Unisun FC this season.
