World Mental Health Day 2023
The World Health Organisation states “Mental health is a basic human right for all people. Everyone, whoever and wherever they are, has a right to the highest attainable standard of mental health. This includes the right to be protected from mental health risks, the right to available, accessible, acceptable, and good quality care, and the right to liberty, independence and inclusion in the community.”
World Mental Health Day 2023 is an opportunity for people and communities to unite behind the theme ‘Mental health is a universal human right” to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right.
Multicultural Cumbria are proud to continue to support our diaspora groups living in local hotels with their mental health through the partnership with Growing Well. Our Asylum and Refugee Coordinator visited the site earlier in the year and saw first hand the amazing work that the men and women have put into the site over the last year. The messages of thanks and appreciation from those that attend are testament to how important fresh air, a sense of achievement and belonging mean to our diaspora.
