Project Description
Mini Culture Bazaar at the Platinum Jubilee
On 5th June 2022 we were a part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Bitts Park. This was a fabulous day with a large-screen sing-along showing of Encanto, community stalls, performances from incredible International acts, workshops and a parade showcasing the diversity that makes us Britain.
Leading up to the main event, we organised three days of drop-in workshops in the Lanes shopping centre.
On the first day, we partnered with Helen Walsh from Delicate Stitches to make flags representing people’s interests and culture. These flags were flown at the main Jubilee celebrations.
On the second day, we worked with Michelle Russell to make medals and treasures which participants could take home in a special presentation box.
On the final day of our Mini Culture Bazaar workshops, Ali and Vicki from the La’al Collective brought along their Riddling Giant puppet. With the help of our workshop attendees, we made him a colourful outfit for the multicultural parade!
We also ran two days of Classical Indian, Indian Folk and Bollywood dancing at the Old Town Hall.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the Jubilee an event to remember!
