Seonghae Yoon (AKA SH) talks about how she brings Seoul with her
I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and have majored in English education. I taught two years in South Korea in secondary school and spent four years in Singapore Korean International School. During my teaching years in Singapore I started training in a martial art called jiu-jitsu and that’s where I met my fiancé who is British and lives in Carlisle.
After four years teaching in Singapore I moved to the UK and I am planning to get married this year! My fiancé has established a Jiu-Jitsu community in Carlisle and the gym is called Radgie Rollers. We have various people come in and train. It is intense close contact sports and I have been working with my fiancé.
My mother is a Korean calligrapher and I have always admired her artwork. I love art and crafts. I began to doodle all the jiu-jitsu movements and uploaded them on Instagram which gained a few followers. I have been making Jiu-Jitsu related stickers and patches.
Currently I am focusing on crafts made with polymer clay. I make frameworks of abstract paintings or some local scenery from Lake District and Carlisle. It is so different living in Carlisle than living in Seoul and I’d love to share my knowledge and experience.
