Multicultural Cumbria AGM 2025 – A Memorable Evening at Tullie House
On Tuesday, June 17th 2025, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, we were delighted to hold our Annual General Meeting at the Tullie House Museum in Carlisle. The evening brought together friends, partners, supporters, and members of the community to reflect on the past year and celebrate the impact of Multicultural Cumbria (MCC).
The evening began with an introduction by Saj Ghafoor. This was followed by an insightful speech from our CEO, Janet Cresswell, who presented the Annual Review for 2023/2024. Janet highlighted the invaluable support and funding that have enabled our work, and paid tribute to our incredible staff and volunteers—emphasizing that half of what MCC achieves wouldn’t be possible without their dedication and passion.
Trustee Tiffany Lew also took to the stage to share a few words about the role of our trustees and the trustee election, reminding us of their importance in keeping MCC’s vision alive and growing.
The evening was made even more vibrant with cultural performances that celebrated the diversity of our community. Guests were treated to traditional Ukrainian songs and captivating Nepalese dances, with performers proudly wearing their traditional attire.
The celebration wouldn’t have been complete without the delicious food. We were incredibly grateful to the wonderful Tahar family, Cynthia (owner of Afrikana in Carlisle), and others who provided a range of dishes and Polish snacks that delighted everyone.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us and made the evening so special. A big thank you as well to Tullie House for allowing us to use one of their museum spaces for the event—it was the perfect venue for such a gathering.
Here’s to another impactful year ahead with our community at the heart of everything we do.
A special moment in the evening was dedicated to Ruth, one of our beloved volunteers, who was congratulated for her devotion, kindness, and consistent support of MCC. Her impact was warmly acknowledged by all present.
