Tina Borgia
Tina has always worked in the community with people from all backgrounds; in particular, with disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, including young people, older adults and people from different diasporas. She is also a wife to Mike Borgia who is often involved in production at MCC events and their two children. Tina has been working with Multicultural Cumbria since it became a charity in 2017, helping to coordinate and develop Culture Bazaar 2018, 2019 and 2020 and is working to expand and develop the programme of activities to involve people from more cultures. aw; She is passionate about offering opportunities for everyone to come together, share their unique cultures, skills, ideas and traditions and celebrate their different heritages, in fun, friendly and welcoming environments.
Tina’s background is in Dance and Performing Arts. She believes that the arts can make a difference to people’s lives, providing the community is at the heart of it, shaping and influencing it as it evolves.
She started the popular Dance Carousel Around the World project which provides a female-only space to enable women from all cultural backgrounds to participate. . She also steers MCC’s collaboration with Carlisle One World Centre (COWC) in managing Carlisle’s International Women’s Group.
Tina has been working with Multicultural Cumbria since it became a charity in 2017.
Join Our Cause
As a charity, we have to raise funds for local projects and core costs. Activities we deliver are:
Culture Bazaar – An annual multicultural event in Carlisle that averages 4,000 visitors over the February half-term weekend.
During Covid-19 Lockdown, we have produced Culture Club Magazine online, to share experiences, knowledge & skills to keep connected and raise awareness of the cultural diversity in Cumbria
